Captain George Gunther

Holding a degree in business administration and a Master license for ships on all oceans, George Gunther has been working on Harbor Branch ships since 1994. He became captain of the R/V Seward Johnson in 2006, previously commanding four research vessels and a cruise ship after serving four years as a Coast Guard navigator.

As Captain of the R/V Seward Johnson, George Gunther was responsible for all CATALYST 2 at-sea operations, as well as the ship’s crew, aboard the vessel. He ensured all vessel maneuvers and operations were conducted safely and efficiently.
