CATALYST 2 Flight Re-Navigation Team Lead - Nutter & Associates

Chris is a major airline captain with management experience in aircraft line operations, pilot training and curricula design. A former US Navy FA-18C squadron commander, he holds an MBA, a Master’s in Aeronautical Engineering, and is a graduate of the USC Aviation Safety Certificate program and NTSB Training Academy. He currently teaches in the Aviation Safety and Security Program at USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering, and is engaged in aviation safety and investigative consulting.

As the CATALYST 2 Flight Re-Construction Lead, Chris directed the research team that utilized advanced aircraft flight modeling software to analyze Earhart’s flight profile from Lae to Howland Island. The final search area represents the team’s integration of historical data with new approaches to aviation accident re-construction.
